The various crises facing the world are indicative of the conflicting responses given regarding food. During the COVID crisis, attention was given to the role played by local supply chains in the sustainability of food systems (Maréchal, 2008; Deverre and Lamine, 2010; Chiffoleau, 2019). Nevertheless, since the start of the war in Ukraine, responses to the global food crisis have focused on food security (Lemonde, 2022). In the light of global warming, attention is given to local supply chains, agricultural practices rooted in local areas and the societies that live there, but food aid continues to operate according to the rationales of global-scale imports, despite a desire for integrated policy.
